THE SETHU CENTRE: A HOME AWAY FROM HOME

With the office space available, we have no choice but to believe in teamwork!

With the ever-increasing demand for Sethu’s services by large numbers of children with special needs and their families seeking help, it has become inescapable that Sethu needs ample space of its own to grow its work.
As I near the end of my first year as the administrator at Sethu,it is both heartening, as well as worrying to see the swelling number of referrals, with children coming from all parts of Goa and beyond. It gladdens me to know that one child at a time we are able to change the futures for vulnerable children by fostering hope. In order to cope with the large numbers, Sethu conducts many group training programs for families and children with autism and
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, so that more children can be helped, despite the limited numbers of therapists. Groups need room to sit, move and breathe – here too our staff constantly strives not to let the lack of space crush our spirit! At Sethu, we are obsessive about documentation and over the years there has been a tremendous upsurge in files, records and case papers, necessitating more storage, certainly a huge challenge considering the limited area of our rented premises.
And so, it’s a happy tight fit at the Sethu Centre with everyone amiably struggling for space. No territorial warfare here! We learn to adjust and adapt and move to a veranda or the landing of a staircase if a particular room is required by another therapist. Our clients, visitors, volunteers, students and collaborators accept the discomfort cheerfully. We grumble with a grin! These challenges combined with a passion for doing what we do has made Sethu an exciting and dynamic workplace.
Sethu’s work can grow much more if we have a space of our own, the state of the art facility we dream of. Raising funds to make this a reality has become the utmost priority for us now. We can do this only with gracious support from YOU! Our mission is far from over and we need your help to build a bridge of hope for the precious children we encounter every day. Be the change in the lives of these children and their families. Give them a chance to live their dreams for a joyful future.
