The Sethu ASD Parent Support Group (SPSG)

There’s great power in numbers, and even if the number is only 2 there is power in sharing giving support and mutual understanding… and our Sethu Parent Support Group has it all. Whether we are 2 or 22 we come together to help each other with an aim to make positive change in our children’s lives.

Here’s what Nayana, mother of two children on the autism spectrum, shared about the encouragement and help she received from the SPSG.
Nayana’s children had been turned away from several schools due to the lack of awareness, understanding and acceptance from school Principals and management. Desperate, she turned to other parents in the parents’ support group for assistance and here’s what happened.

“I want to extend my immense gratitude towards the parents in the group who helped me with the very frustrating dilemma of school admission. After losing all hope, with my experiences so far in trying to find a school I felt lost and alone. Hope was re-instilled by the advice, love and support I received from the encouraging parents who had already been on this journey. Being a part of this group is a huge blessing. I hope and pray that all our kids reach their true potential and are always happy and healthy.

I strongly urge new parents too to step up and voice their concerns, issues and feelings. We have all been through the initial hurdles and can understand the overwhelming feelings very well.

This group was the best thing that Sethu has done… To bring us parents together to help each other out. With the enormous amounts of input, strategies, plans and ideas, we make our kids stronger and better every day. Turns out we parents are all truly superstars in our own ways.

Much thanks and love.”
