Thanks and Gratitude – My Jar of Gratitude

Author:  Mahera Kantawalla| February 11, 2021

The year 2020 caught us all by surprise. The onset of an unexpected pandemic threw many of our plans and goals for the year out of the window or kept them on hold. In spite of the initial uncertainties and setbacks caused by our ‘new normal’, this year has been a year of many new experiences and opportunities for further learning.

This year witnessed the Sethu team moving into a new building, making it possible for the entire team to come together and work under one roof. We also scaled up our online training (webinars) for parents and professionals in Goa and across the country. It helped us discover creative ways to reach out to our families using telehealth services.
Most importantly, it gave me an opportunity to be part of a wonderful collaboration to learn the implementation of the Social ABCs Program.

All this would have not been possible without teamwork and team support. I would like to fill my ‘Gratitude Jar’ by extending my thanks to:
– Our dynamic leader, Dr Nandita for being a strong pillar of support and giving us so many opportunities to learn new things and add to our professional skills.
– The Admin team for putting systems in place to ensure the safety of the children and families. They constantly are coming up with solutions to strengthen our internet connectivity to ensure that we can conduct our tele sessions smoothly.
– My team head, Andre Velho for his continued support and encouragement.
– Each and every one of the clinical staff who shared their ideas and expertise to improve our teleservices.
– Renuka Mendes, our HR for introducing the ‘Wellness Program’ for the staff to help staff cope with all the new changes.
– Lastly, to all the children and families we serve for accepting and adapting to telehealth services and continuing to support us and work along with us as a team.

I take this overflowing Jar of Gratitude and look forward to continuing to fill it throughout 2021 with more hope, positivity and new learning!
