New Staff at Sethu!

Hi! I am Varsha Anurag Biyani, Occupational Therapist at Sethu Child Development and Family Guidance Centre. I joined Sethu approx a month back. I love it here, I am really happy and privileged to join Sethu as a Staff Member. My journey to join Sethu was simple, I love children and working with children was non-negotiable. I was searching for a job as an Occupational Therapist and I applied at Sethu and the rest is recent history. In a month I have learned so much not just about Occupational Therapy but by having the opportunity to experience rehabilitation teamwork with Sethu’s Paediatrician, Behaviour Therapist, Speech Therapist, and Special Educators. I have attended almost everyone’s sessions as an observer and all are remarkable. It is turning out to be an amazing opportunity to interact with different disciplines so closely. I am learning new things every day far beyond my imagination. I realise already that I am fortunate to be part of Sethu. A unique aspect of working here is the cross-disciplinary approach to therapy for a child, different departments work together to give the best outcome for the child.

Another special quality here is that parents are involved in the therapy for their child – they don’t sit and watch, they do! Here there is a mantra – parents are the experts of their children. Without the collaboration of parents, outcomes would be much slower. This is implemented in any session possible. We all know that parents play an important role in children’s development but now I have seen the positive implementation of the parental role in therapy.

Every week there is a full team meeting where we discuss case studies it is a great way to stay in touch with everything going on in a busy centre.

The Sethu Team is very much a family – I see the team support each other through thick and thin. There is lots to celebrate in the wonderful land of Sethu and caring for children. I am delighted to be the latest member of this fun caring family!

Thank you!!!!
